MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s embracing of Democratic ideas and proposals as he mounts his re-election campaign is generating some blowback from conservatives. And Walker’s longtime political foes are cautioning that voters should focus on his record, not his promises. Walker’s so-called “Ambitious Agenda” for his eighth year in office includes long-held Democratic initiatives such as removing juvenile offenders from the troubled Lincoln Hills prison.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
