1-15-18 winter weather advisory

Motorists need to slow down when driving to work or school this morning.  A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until midnight for much of our listening area including Fond du Lac and  Dodge counties until midnight.   Meteorologist Paul Collar says  2-3 inches of snow fell over night and more of the same throughout the day.  Collar says a winter storm warning is in effect for Sheboygan county.

1-15-18 birth mother and daughter reunited after more than 30 years

Kristin Ramey has known almost her entire life that she was adopted.  Ramey was born in Fond du Lac in 1984 and was adopted through  Catholic Charities.   In 2011 Kristin began to search for her birth mom , but with no luck.  It was a closed adoption, and the father did not want any information released,  so Ramey was not able to get any information about her birth parents from […]

1-15-18 wi lawyers seek to increase public defender pay

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Private attorneys in Wisconsin are again pushing for a pay increase when they are appointed by the state public defender to represent criminal defendants who can't afford a lawyer.  The state Supreme Court has scheduled a May 16 hearing to listen to the arguments about increasing the pay rate to $100 an hour.  The current pay rate of $40 an hour is the lowest in the U.S.  […]

1-15-18 fatal rollover crash in dodge county

One person was killed in a rollover crash in Dodge County.  The crash happened Friday night on Highway MM near Highway EM in the town of Emmet.  A preliminary investigation shows that a Mercedes Benz was traveling eastbound on MM failed to negotiate a curve and entered the south ditch striking a culvert causing the vehicle to overturn.  A passer-by attempted to extricate the driver but was unable to after […]

1-15-18 green lake county foundry convicted of violating clean air act

A Berlin  foundry has been ordered to pay medical costs and a $200,000 fine after exposing workers to asbestos.   As part of a deal with federal prosecutors Grede LLC pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court to violating the Clean Air Act.  The company acknowledged plant supervisors ordered workers to clean an asbestos-filled industrial oven in January 2012 without providing them adequate protective gear or following procedures for removing the cancer-causing material. 1-15-18 dnr to increase state park and camping fees

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is unveiling plans for a new pricing system for camping and daily admission at state parks.  Daily rates are going up at the most popular locations of Devil's Lake, Peninsula and Willow River.  There will be camping fee increases at 38 properties at various times of the year, though 36 locations will see fee cuts.  The largest increase will be $7 per […]

1-15-18 citywide church service in fdl for martin luther king jr. day

A city wide church service will be held Monday in Fond du Lac in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.   Local churches led by The Bread of Life Church will hold an ecumenical service at 7pm Monday at Memorial Baptist Church on Forest Avenue.   The keynote speaker will be Fond du Lac police chief Bill Lamb.  The event will be livestreamed at mlkfdl.org.

1-13-18 state assembly-sexual harrassment training

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state Assembly is set to vote on a resolution next week that would require all state representatives and employees in the chamber to attend sexual harassment training. The resolution calls for the Assembly chief clerk to hold mandatory training at the beginning of every legislative session for representatives, officers and Assembly employees.
