1-12-18 fdl man convicted of sexually assaulting six year old girl

All three Fond du lac residents charged in the sexual assault of a six year old girl have been convicted.   Forty one year old Shane Berg pleaded no contest this week to a reduced charge of second degree sexual assault of a child.  A sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 20.  Eighteen year old Tory Tuinstra was convicted of sexual assault of a child and will be sentenced next month.  […]

1-12-18 oshkosh man convicted of stealing millions of dollars from fdl scrap metal company

The Oshkosh owner of three scrap metal companies has been convicted of defrauding a Fond du lac scrap metal company out of millions of dollars.   At a plea hearing Thursday Sterling Kienbaum pleaded no contest to racketeering and theft.     A restitution hearing is scheduled for May and and a sentencing hearing in June.  District Attorney Eric Toney says Kienbaum stole $14 million from Sadoff Iron and Metal between 2009 and […]

1-12-18 fdl taxi driver dies from natural causes not crash

Fond du Lac police say a taxi driver died from natural causes not from injuries after his taxi cab crashed into a tree earlier this month.  Seventy five year old Richard Kunasch died this week at Theda Care Medical Center in Neenah.   The crash happened January 4 on Hawthorne Drive.just east of Buttermilk Drive.  An autopsy determined that Kunasch died from natural causes from underlying medical issues including cardiac disease […]

A legislative committee held a public hearing Thursday on a bill designed  to give teachers more protection in the classroom.   Fond du Lac Republican state representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt  says the Teacher Protection Act  would allow teachers to remove a student from the classroom.  The measure would also allow teachers to ask school boards to suspend students if administrators refuse to do it.  The bill would require police to notify school […]
