1-8-18 fdl man rescued on lake winnebago

A Fond du Lac man was rescued after getting stuck on Lake Winnebago.  The Fond du lac County Sheriff’s Office says shortly before 2:30 am Sunday 42 year old Christopher Freund  called the  Dispatch Center indicating that he was lost on Lake Winnebago in the area of Garden Dr.   Rescue personnel located Freund approximately ¼ mile off shore.  He was carried off the ice and transported by ambulance to St. […]

1-8-18 chimney fire at town of rosendale residence

Nobody was injured in a chimney fire in Fond du Lac County over the weekend.  A passerby on Highway 23 in the town of  Rosendale  reported the fire Saturday night.  Firefighters were called to the Paula White home at W11950 Hwy 23 in the Town of Rosendale.  The fire was contained to the chimney of a wood burning fireplace.   Nobody was home at the time.

1-8-18 fdl county sheriff’s office investigating whether crash victim suffered medical condition before crash

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is investigating whether a Fond du Lac woman may have suffered a medical condition prior to a rollover crash this week.  Sixty four year old Dianne Majerus of Fond du Lac was pronounced dead at the scene on Highway K north of Highway 45 Thursday morning.  Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says the road was not icy and there was  no evidence of braking […]

An autopsy has determined that a Fond du Lac woman died from hypothermia trying to walk to shore on Lake Winnebago.  Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmiddt says 27 year old Lindsey Klima was at a New Year’s Eve party on the lake when for some reason started walking toward the shore where her body was found several hours later.  Waldschmidt says Klima was not dressed for the cold, wearing only a […]

1-8-18 road work begins for foxconn plant

RACINE, Wis. (AP) — The first major construction work related to the Foxconn Technology Group development begins Monday in Racine County when frontage roads along Interstate 94 will be upgraded.  The state Department of Transportation says the east and west frontage roads between Highway 20 and Highway KR will be reconstructed. The Fond du lac Area United Way is making a last minute plea for donations.  Director Amber Kilawee says the fund drive is at 85 percent of the $670,000 goal.  People can make donations through the end of the month.   "Anybody who hasn't given yet, we really need you,"  Kilawee told WFDL news.  "Last year at this time we were at 92 percent of our goal."
