One person was treated at the hopsital for smoke inhalation following a fire at a Fond du Lac home. Shortly before 7pm Wednesday firefighters were called to 156 S. Seymour Street for a report of a small fire in basement. Fire chief Pete O’Leary told WFDL news the homeowner extinguished the fire before firefighters arrived, but the house had to be ventilated. O’Leary says the initial indication is the fire was caused by children playing with matches.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
