Snow covered slippery roads are being blamed for two fatal crashes in Fond du lac County over the weekend that claimed the lives of three people. Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says two Brandon area men were killed in a two vehicle crash Saturday afternoon on Highway 49 at County Highway E near Waupun. Two Brandon area women in the other car received non life-threatening injuries. Waldschmidt says Saturday morning a 77 year old passenger in a car that collided with a pickup truck on Highway 44 was pronounced dead at the hospital. Waldschmidt says westbound car operated by a 50 year old Sheboygan woman crossed the center line, striking an eastbound pickup truck. The car driver was transported to Ripon Medical Center for treatment of injuries. The 52 year old male driver of the pickup was treated at the scene and released.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
