Waupun residents are invited to a Firefighters Appreciation night Monday night hosted by the Waupun Clergy Association. Association president Pastor Wayne Morrison says its an event to show appreciation to firefighters on behalf of a grateful community. Pastor Morrison says firefighters put their lives on the line every time they respond to a fire. The event starts at 7pm Monday at the St. Joseph Parish Center on North Division Street. Admission is free and there will be a $50 door prize.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
