2-5-18 four people die in three snow-related crashes in fdl county

Snow covered slippery roads are being blamed for three fatal crashes in Fond du lac County over the weekend that claimed the lives of  four people.    A  Lyndon Station man was killed in a head on collision when his car crossed the center line on Highway 23 near Highway M in the town of Rosendale Saturday evening.  The victim has been identified as 34 year old Rickey Allen.  The Sheriff’s Office says the driver of the second vehicle, 22 year old Jacob Baus,  of Mt. Calvary and a passenger, 22 year old Colleen Elzinga,  from Illinois received minor injuries.   Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt  says two Brandon area men, Daniel Emmer and Brian Emmer Jr.  were killed in a two vehicle crash Saturday afternoon  on Highway 49 at County Highway E near Waupun.   Two Brandon area women in the other car, Amy and Haley Huenink,  received non life-threatening injuries.   Waldschmidt says Saturday morning  a 77 year old female passenger in a car that collided with a pickup truck on Highway 44 was pronounced dead at the hospital.  The victim was identified as Patsy Knight of Markesan.  Waldschmidt says westbound car operated by 50 year old Rebecca Knight of Sheboygan crossed the center line, striking an eastbound pickup truck.  Rebecca Knight was transported to Ripon Medical Center for treatment of injuries.  The 52 year old male driver of the pickup, Louis Smith,  of Markesan was treated at the scene and released.  All three were wearing seatbelts.
