Telemarketing continues its streak at the top of the Wisconsin Department of Ag, Trade and Consumer Protection annual list of consumer complaints. Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection, Michelle Reinen, told WFDL news telemarketing complaints in 2017 are up more than 12 percent from the year before and a 62 percent increase over 2015. Number two on the list are landlord/tenant complaints, followed by telecommunications, identity theft and home improvement scams. Reinen says a brand new category, Medical Services complaints debuted at number seven. Also new to the list at number 10 are fuel quality complaints. Rounding out the top ten on the list include gas pumps, motor vehicle repair and motor vehicle sales.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
