The Fond du Lac Police Department is one of seven law enforcement agencies in northeast Wisconsin to participate in a pilot program to prevent elderly and disabled patient abuse. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says the Safe Seniors Camera Program allows residents who suspect a care giver is abusing their loved one to use a covert camera to provide surveillance in their residence. Fond du lac County Social Services director, Pat Lancor, says she thinks it’s a good program, To report suspected abuse you may contact your county elder adult at-risk agency or call 1-800-488-3780. If you witness an act of abuse, neglect or exploitation that requires immediate attention dial 911.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
