The owners of the Hotel Retlaw in downtown Fond du lac say they are planning for a grand opening this summer. The owners say renovation work is underway with plans to restore the hotel “back to its original grandeur. The renovation will include a farm to table restaurant, an espresso cafe and wine bar, a relaxation pool and a luxury spa. A press release said,the renovation will create “a legitimate luxury hotel in central Wisconsin that could hold its own in downtown Manhattan.” Other plans for the $25 million renovations include a lobby bar, player’s club game room, a second-floor outdoor patio and a grand ballroom that can accommodate up to 300 people, according to the release. “Hotel Retlaw will attract world-class travelers to Fond du Lac and will serve as a premier destination for residents,” Owner Dennis Doucette said. “We’ve received extraordinary support from the community so far. Hotel Retlaw is poised to bring a vibrancy back to downtown Fond du Lac that many say it has lacked for years.” The hotel plans to bring an estimated 35,000 travelers to the downtown area annually along with creating 150 jobs in the hospitality sector. It is estimated that Hotel Retlaw will have an economic impact of $25 million per year, according to the news release.
