2-12-18 aaa-drowsy driving study

todayFebruary 11, 2018

A new AAA study shows that one in 10 U.S. highway crashes is the result of drowsy driving.  State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmuscz says that’s  as much as eight times more than what previous federal estimates have indicated.  Jarmuscz says the findings show that drowsy driving is nearly as dangerous as drunk driving.  Jarmuscz says the study comes in light of separate data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showing that more than one-third of American motorists get less than seven hours of sleep per night.  Jarmuscz says the indepth study actually placed cameras inside vehicles across the country.
