If you need a blessing on this Ash Wednesday but don’t have time to attend the service, a Fond du Lac church has an option. St. Paul’s Cathedral is offering “Ashes to Go”. St. Paul’s new dean the Reverand Patrick Perkins says people can drive up in front of the Cathedral on West Division Streete, remain in their cars, and receive prayer, ashes and information aboujt Lenten and Easter services at the Cathedral. Reverand Perkins says ashes are not a sacrament or like taking communion. “They’re simply outward signs that we give to people to remind them the fact that we’re not going to come out of this life alive and that its important for us to redeem the power the Lord has given us on this earth in order to make the most of it and to serve Christ and our neighbors.” The drive through service will be offered Wednesday from 7-11:30am and 3-5pm.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
