The children’s room at the Fond du Lac Public Library will be closed for several days starting Monday so new carpeting can be installed. It is expected to reopen by Sunday, February 25. During the closure, staff will be on hand to search for and retrieve anything the public needs. Programs for children, such as Storytimes, will continue as planned. The project includes new carpet on the first and second floors while rearranging some materials. When done, in mid-March, adult fiction books will be on the second floor, and newspapers and magazines will be on the first floor.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
