More than a week after the mass shooting in Florida the Fond du lac School District has sent a letter to parents assuring them the District is doing everything it can to protect students. The letter says the shooting has reinforced the District’s commitment to continual evaluation of its safety procedures. The District says school counselors are also available to help students who may have anxiety regarding the Florida shooting. The District says a safe and secure school climate must precede and support a healthy learning environment.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
