2-28-18 school safety-fdl school superintendent

todayFebruary 28, 2018

The Fond du Lac School District superintendent says the District is doing everything it can to try to make schools safe in the wake of the mass shooting in Florida.  Superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says he is talking with the police chief about steps to improve security at the high school including the possibility of limiting access points or having  a  monitor at the entrance.  “There’s a lot of people that come and go out of that building.  Parking and different aspects of the building, in the morning, at lunch time and after school having different exits has been convenient.  But in light of these things you have to re-evaluate,”  Sebert told WFDL news.   Sebert says a Republican proposal that  would allow teachers to carry guns is not a good solution.    “There might be some teachers who would be willing to do that.  But the vast majority of teachers, I would put myself in the same boat, I would not want to carry a gun.”
