2-2-18 fdl high school student found not guilty of making terrorist threats

A Fond du Lac jury has found a former Fond du Lac High School student not guilty  making threats to “shoot up the school.”   Seventeen year old Carlos Martinez was found not guilty of  making terrorist threats and disorderly conduct.    Martinez was arrested last  April  after other students overheard him allegedly make the threat outside a classroom.  Martinez said it was a joke.

2-2-18 maximum sentence in slenderman case

WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) — A judge has sentenced a Wisconsin girl to the maximum 40 years in a mental hospital for stabbing a classmate in an attack aimed at pleasing a fictional horror character known as Slender Man. Judge Michael Bohren says 15-year-old Morgan Geyser remains a risk to hurt herself or others. Bohren says even though Geyser was just 12 at the time, the case "was an attempted murder."

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Regional Administrator Cathy Stepp has recused herself from a Wisconsin compliance review. Midwest Environmental Advocates and 16 individuals petitioned the EPA in 2015 to review Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources' compliance with the Clean Water Act.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republican lawmakers are proposing a way to pay for rebuilding Interstate 94 around Milwaukee after Gov. Scott Walker and the Legislature scrapped the project. 2-1-18 fdl basement fire

One person was treated at the hopsital for smoke inhalation following a fire at a Fond du Lac home.    Shortly before 7pm Wednesday firefighters were called to  156 S. Seymour Street  for a report of a small fire in basement.  Fire chief Pete O’Leary told WFDL news the homeowner extinguished the fire before firefighters arrived, but the house had to be ventilated.  O’Leary says the initial indication is the fire […]
