A 38 year old Fond du Lac woman was arrested following a 26 mile long high speed chase early this morning. The chase started at about 12:30am Thursday when a sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop on Highway 23 at County Highway C. The vehicle continued eastbound on 23 to Interstate 41, and then south on Highway 151. The vehicle reached speeds of 115 MPH. The chase ended on 151 at Highway 26 after the vehicle ran over stop sticks that had been placed on the highway. The driver was arrested without further incident and faces charges of felony fleeing/eluding, operating a motor vehicle while impaired, operating after revocation, reckless driving, and illegal possession of prescriptions.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
