A Hustisford Man is likely to spend the rest of his life in prison for the sexual assault of a child. Fifty three year old Steven Baran was sentenced in Dodge County Court Friday to 35 years in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting a child. In addition, Judge Steven G. Bauer ordered that Baran serve an additional 15 years of extended supervision. Bauer said during the sentencing that Baran will ‘probably die in prison.’

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
