3-2-18 nfdl school district building construction

todayMarch 2, 2018

Construction is expected to begin soon on a major North Fond du Lac school renovation project approved a little more than a year ago in a referendum.     Meeting in special session this week the school board approved awarding contracts to several local subcontractors for a 95,000 square foot addition at the Friendship Learning Center.  Superintendent Aaron Sadoff says the expansion will include a new gym.  “We’re going to have three full-length basketball courts, second level running track,”  Sadoff told WFDL news.  Sadoff says the different grade levels will be converted into what is being called Learning Land. “This is a great idea of our staff, you don’t go to second grade you go to South America.  In third grade you’re going to be going to Asia.  In those different Learning Lands its going to have pictures and maps.  Everything that emmerses our kids in the cultures of those different continents.”  District Offices will be relocated to the building.   Sadoff says the bids came in slightly under estimate allowing the District to install what are called Nanawalls that will provide flexible spacing in the classrooms, and to build a slightly larger community room used for robotics.   Voters also approved a $2.5 million dollar question for deferred maintenance projects at Bessie Allen Middle School and Horace Mann High School.  Sadoff says construction is expected to begin in April.
