The public has an opportunity to comment on the future of Hobbs Woods. A listening session will be held from 6-8pm Tuesday at the city county government center. County executive Al Buechel says one of the items on the agenda is whether people should be allowed to walk their dogs on the recreation trail located south of Fond du Lac. Buechel says other areas up for discussion include whether there should be additional parking and restroom facilities. County Parks director Sam Tobias says the meeting is designed to receive public feedback on the county’s most popular park and create a to do list for grounds and maintenance issues. Tobias says increased useage at Hobbs Woods combined with fewer dollars for maintenance have taken a toll over the years.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
