The Fond du Lac Parks director says he believes new kayak and canoe launches at Lakeside Park will be well-received by the public. The city council has given the okay to allow the city to apply for grant money to pay for half of the estimated $80,000 cost. Parks director John Redmond says the launches would be installed at Lakeside Park West, Harborview Drive and west of the Dog Park
on Satterlee Drive. Redmond says the launch on Harborview Drive would be ADA accessible. Redmond says canoers and kayakers would have several options. “You could either stay in the river and you could go into town or you could go into Lake Winnebago on a nice, calm day,” Redmond told WFDL news.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
