A Family Care program that was piloted in Fond du lac County is changing the way it operates. Fond du Lac County executive Al Buechel says the Lakeland Care District Board is expected to vote to dissolve the District at a meeting this Wednesday. Buechel says the non-profit Lakeland Care Incorporated was created about a year ago when the state decided it would no longer support Districts for Family Care. Lakeland Care grew from one of the first Family Care pilot programs started in 2000 and Buechel says those services will continue. Family Care is a Medicaid Managed Care program designed to help eligible elders and adults with disabilities live more independently at home and in their community.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
