A man who assaulted a Beaver Dam police officer has received the maximum sentence. Dodge County Circuit judge Martin DeVries sentenced 27 year old Trevell Cowan, to three years in prison and three years extended supervision. Cowan was already on extended supervision for two armed robberies that occurred back in 2008 when he was stopped in Beaver Dam for various traffic violations. Cowan exited his vehicle and immediately became combative and starting punching the officer in the face. He was subdued with a Taser.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
