Several area teachers and students are 2018 Herb Kohl Foundation award recipients. Student recipients include Kyle Engels at Dodgeland High School, Central Wisconsin Christian School student Elizabeth Jonker and Anna Maramonte at Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac. Teacher Fellows are Jenni DalleNogare at Friendship Learning Center in North Fond du Lac, NaQuisha Mann at SAGES in Fox Lake and Kevi n Klueger at Dodgeland Elementary School. Initiative Scholars include Karli Hinkley at St. Mary’s Springs Academy, Brenna Groenewold at Central Christian School in Waupun, Mayville High School’s Kasey Wandling and Cristina Martha at Beaver Dam Wayland Academy.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
