3-28-18 south korean pastor in nfdl worries about family in south korea

todayMarch 28, 2018

Pastor Sukhyun Jung says he fears for his family in South Korea.   Pastor Tommy, as he is known to his Community United Methodist church congregation in North Fond du Lac,  was born in the Republic of Korea and grew up in a small city near Seoul.    He has been a pastor at the North Fond du Lac church since 2014.   “It is a fascinating experience,”  Pastor Tommy told WFDL news.  “I have been blessed by the congregation and our neighbors.  Their love and care nurtured me and my family.”   Pastor Tommy  says the recent rhetoric from the White House and North Korean  president have increased the tension between North and South Korea.  He says many of his relatives, including his mother and father and brother still live in South Korea.  “He (brother) said I have no option. There’s no choice.  It is very stressful, but they are still living their lives.  We should pray for peace for their lives in South Korea.”    He says his biggest fear is a pre-emptive military strike by the United States on North Korea.  He says the North Korean capitol is only about 100 miles from Seoul.  “The amazing thing is over 15 billion people live within a one hour driving range from North Korea.  That many people living in danger.”    Pastor Tommy says he wishes that all sides could reach a peace accord.  Later this year Pastor Tommy will begin a new chapter in his life.  After four years in North Fond du Lac his family is moving to the Madison area where he has been appointed pastor at a church in Edgerton.  He was a guest on AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.
