An elderly Campbellsport man received minor injuries when he was struck by a car this morning. The incident happened shortly before 6am at N. Fond du Lac Ave. and Martin St. in the Village of Campbellsport. Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says an eastbound vehicle on Martin St. struck the pedestrian in the crosswalk. The 78 year old victim sustained lacerations and other minor injuries. He was transported by ambulance to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac where he received treatment and is expected to be released. The driver, a 36-year-old Campbellsport man was cited for inattentive driving.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
