A Fond du Lac native who now lives in Texas says life is slowly getting back to normal following a rash of  fatal package bomb  explosions.  Fond du Lac native Nick Waldschmidt  lives in Round Rock, about five miles from where  the suspect blew himself up last week as police were closing in.    Waldschmidt says at first he wasn’t  overly concerned because the Austin Texas area is so large.  But he says that changed  when a  third bomb was detonated with a trip wire.  “That’s when it made it more real,”  Waldschmidt told WFDL news.  “We take the dogs out for a walk, we walk through the neighborhoods, and after the trip wire went off when you would see a box or garbage bag laying next to the road  you would take a few steps away from it.”   Waldschmidt says for a while it seemed that there were almost non-stop reports of suspicious packages or activity, keeping everybody on edge.  Waldschmidt is a pilot and says it was difficult to be away from his fiancé because of his job.  “She was really scared.  I flew out the day before they caught him and she was so concerned she was about to take the dogs and start driving back to Wisconsin.”   Waldschmidt says it was a huge relief following news that the suspect was dead.   He says life is slowly but surely getting back to normal.  Nick is a 1998 graduate of St. Mary’s Springs.  His brother Ryan works as a captain with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
