3-15-18 fdl high school students walk out

Hundreds of Fond du Lac High School students joined thousands of students across the state and participated in a national school walkout Wednesday on the one month anniversary of  the Florida High School shooting.   The students gathered in the gym to honor  the 17 people who were killed  and then walked outside for 17 minutes of  silence.  High school sophomore Mohini Kumar and junior Breanna Schmoldt helped organize the event.  […]

3-15-18 area unemployment rate up

The unemployment rate is up locally in the latest reporting period.  The city of Fond du Lac’s jobless rate in January was 2.8 percent,  up from 2.4 percent in December.  The Fond du Lac County unemployment rate increased half a percent to 2.7 percent.  In Dodge County the unemployment rate increased from 2.3 percent in December to 2.8 percent in January.

The Fond du Lac Fire Department is assisting Beaver Dam Fire in  the aftermath of a fatal explosion at a Beaver Dam apartment complex.   Fire chief Pete O’Leary has been assisting at the Beaver Dam Emergency Operations Center this week and  says a Fond du lac fire engine and ambulance are on  the scene Thursday for a controlled fire to burn down the apartment building.  O’Leary says a controlled explosion […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — U.S. Attorney Scott Blader's office says the investigation into alleged misconduct at the Lincoln Hills juvenile prison in northern Wisconsin is continuing. 3-15-18 state’s first elk hunt

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin wildlife officials are launching the state's first elk hunt. The Department of Natural Resources announced on its website Tuesday that hunters will be allowed to kill 10 bull elk across Sawyer, Bayfield, Ashland and Price counties from mid-October to mid-November and over eight days in mid-December.
