A major street reconstruction project starts next week in Fond du lac.   City  engineer Paul DeVries says work will begin Monday on a three block stretch of Fond du Lac Avenue from Sixth Street to Ninth Street.  During construction traffic will be rerouted but access will be maintained to Fond du Lac Avenue businesses and residences between Sixth and Ninth Streets. Learning to be more inclusive and respectful of individual differences is the goal of a one-day conference at UW Fond du Lac.   The Anti-Bullying and Celebrate Diversity Institute is free and open to the public.  The conference will engage participants in discussion on topics such as religion,  race/ethnicity,  gender, and sexual identity.  The conference will be held on Friday  at the University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac.

3-30-18 republican u.s. senate candidate debate

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Republican candidates for U.S. Senate plan to debate for the first time April 26 in Pewaukee. The conservative group Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin announced the debate on Thursday. It says both state Sen. Leah Vukmir and Delafield businessman Kevin Nicholson have agreed to debate. They will face each other in the Aug. 14 primary with the winner advancing to take on Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Candidates are lining up to run in a special election for open Wisconsin Senate and Assembly seats. Gov. Scott Walker issued an executive order Thursday scheduling special elections to fill open seats in the 1st Senate District and the 42nd Assembly District. The primary will be May 15 with the general elections June 12. Candidates have until April 17 to file nomination papers.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Sawyer County judge listed as endorsing Rebecca Dallet for Wisconsin Supreme Court says he actually supports her opponent Michael Screnock. Judge John Yackel said Thursday that he never gave Dallet permission to list his name among the circuit court judges who support her candidacy.
