The state Assembly has passed two school safety packages.  The Assembly approved a plan on a 78-8 vote Thursday that would lay out $100 million in grants for school security upgrades and require annual school safety drills. 3-23-18 man sentenced to prison for assaulting beaver dam police officer

A man who assaulted a Beaver Dam police officer has received the maximum sentence.   Dodge County Circuit judge Martin DeVries sentenced 27 year old Trevell Cowan, to three years in prison and three years extended supervision.  Cowan was already on extended supervision for two armed robberies  that occurred back in 2008 when he was stopped in Beaver Dam for  various traffic violations.  Cowan exited his vehicle and immediately  became combative […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A new report shows Wisconsin's unemployment rate hit a record low in February.  The state Department of Workforce Development released data Thursday that shows the unemployment rate dipped to 2.9 percent in February, down 0.2 percent from January to mark a record low. 3-23-18 rubicon woman seriously injured when she is run over by her own car

A Rubicon woman was seriously injured when she was accidentally run over by her  car.  The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says the 67 year old woman was  attempting to secure a child in the rear driver’s side seat when the vehicle began rolling backward after it was accidentally left in neutral.  The woman was flown by helicopter to the hospital with serious upper body injuries. 3-22-18 high speed chases

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies were involved in two high speed chases Thursday morning.  The second chase began shortly before 10am when a sheriff’s deputy stopped a speeding vehicle on Highway 151 near Dehring Road.  Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says the chase continued on 151 and Highway D at speeds in excess of 100 miles an hour.  Waldschmidt says the suspect vehicle avoided stop sticks that had been placed […]
