A Waupun man was flown by helicopter to the hospital with serious injuries following a rear end collision involving two pickup trucks in Fond du Lac County. The crash happened Wednesday afternoon on Highway 49 and Amity Road. The Sheriff’s Office says 56 year old Robert Greenfield of Waupun was slowing to turn into a driveway when his pickup was struck from behind by a pickup driven by 29 year old Kyle Zimdars of Brandon. Greenfield had to be extricated after his pickup overturned in a ditch. He was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Zimdars was not injured and was cited for inattentive driving and following too close.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
