4-9-18 fdl police say reports of gunshots fired were actually fireworks

Fond du Lac police say it appears that reports of possible gunshots heard by residents on the city’s southside early Monday morning were actually fireworks.  Assistant police chief Steve Klein was one of the first people to call police. Klein says it woke him up from a dead sleep and he believed they were gunshots.   Klein says police officers, sheriff’s deputies and state patrol troopers checked the southeast area of the City and found no evidence of gunshots.  He says Department personnel that live in the general area state that they heard the “pops” and looked outside to see fireworks going off in the sky.  He says another caller stated they heard the bangs and also saw fireworks going up.
