The Waupun K9 officer helped apprehend an escaped prison inmate over the weekend. Waupun Deputy Police Chief Jeremy Rasch says an inmate escaped from the prison farm on Highway 49 Saturday. Officer Ryan Schneider and his K9 partner Boomer were first on scene. Officer Schneider located the 25 year old Burke Center inmate in the area of STH 49 near USH 151 walking east toward the city of Waupun. The inmate then began to run after police attempted contact. Rasch says when Boomer started barking the inmate stopped and dropped to the ground and was taken into custody.3-28-25 waupun common council postpones action on pay raises
