A Fond du Lac County Board supervisor has made the official announcement that he is a candidate for the state assembly. Ken Depperman is running as a Republican for the 59th Assembly District seat, which covers portions of Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Calumet and Washington counties. Depperman says his main issues of concern are transportation, education and human services. Depperman says if elected he would work to maximize the quality of life, keep taxes low and increase job opportunities. Depperman says he’s concerned that over the years public education has not received adequate funding. Incumbent state representative Jesse Kremer is not running for re-election.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
