A Fond du Lac woman was rescued from the Fond du lac River Thursday afternoon. Rescue personnel were called to the river at 12th Street for a reported person in the water. Upon arrival rescue crews quickly deployed cold water rescue suits and made entry into the river securing the victim and attaching a rope around her to aid in her extrication from the water and up the snow covered riverbank. The victim was brought to a waiting ambulance for medical treatment which included exposure to the cold. “The victim was yelling for help and alert neighbors kept the victim stable while the other one called 9-1-1” said Fire Chief Peter O’Leary. “This outcome could have been much different if not for quick thinking bystanders who knew what to do.”
