There’s good and bad news in the 2018 American Lung Association’s 2018 State of the Air Report for Wisconsin. American Lung Association in Wisconsin spokeswoman Dona Wininsky says the report shows particle pollution levels are improving, but warmer temperatures and “drift” continue to challenge progress on reducing ozone. “I would say we continue to trend making slow and steady progress,” Winisky told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program. But Winisky says ozone levels have worsened in some counties. Sheboygan, Manitowac and Door counties all received an F grade. Fond du Lac County received a C and Dodge County a D grade when it comes to ozone levels. Wininsky says the Lung Association is also very concerned that proposed rollbacks of EPA clean air regulations by the Trump administration could could erase many of the gains made over the past several decades.
