A Fond du lac County Sheriff’s captain says last weekend’s drug enforcement detail shows how dangerous our local highways are. Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says three drivers were arrested for driving while under the influence of drugs and he says its not just at night. “With these restricted controlled substances in their system we find these drivers all hours of the day.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
