The Fond du lac Fire Chief is reminding motorists to drive defensively and watch out for kids riding their bicycles. Chief Pete O’Leary says as the weather warms up more kids are playing outside and riding their bikes to school. “Kids are unpredictable. They are following the rules of the road, sometimes they’re not. They’re active, they’re excited to be out,” O’Leary told WFDL news. “We want parents to make sure their children know the rules of the road. Secondly make sure they have a bike helmet on.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
