An Illinois man involved in a high speed chase in Fond du lac County this month has made his initial court appearance. Mark Terry faces multiple counts including eluding law enforcement, recklessly endangering safety and felon in possession of a firearm. Bail was set at $50,000 cash. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 4. Terry and a passenger in the vehicle, from Milwaukee, were arrested following the chase that started on Highway 151 and ended when the car crashed on Highway 49 in Brandon. Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says both men also face drug-related charges. Waldschmidt says the vehicle was involved in prior chases in Fond du Lac County and Illinois over the past few months.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
