4-11-18 second person dies in beaver dam fire

BEAVER DAM, Wis. (AP) — Authorities say a second person has died in an apartment fire in Beaver Dam.  Fire and police officials say 24-year-old Jade Wilson has died at Columbia-St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee from injuries received in the fire at the Executive Apartments on Saturday.  The Dodge County Medical Examiner's Office has positively identified the other victim as 63-year-old Corrine Bolin, a resident of the complex. 4-11-18 mixed results on nation’s report card in wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. (AP) —  Wisconsin eighth grade students are scoring better than the national average on math tests known as the nation's report card, but fourth grade reading scores are below the average.  The National Assessment of Educational Progress was given to students in fourth and eighth grade last spring.  Fourth-grade reading scores were 220, which is down from 223 in 2015 and below the national average of 221.  Eighth […]

4-10-18 salmonella in chicken salad sickens 265 and kills one in eight states

4-10-18 walker signs two more bills to combat opioid abuse

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker has signed two more bills designed to fight opioid abuse.  The governor signed the bills Monday in Green Bay.  The first bill lays out $1.5 million to treat jail inmates. Scott Walker's request to establish new economic opportunity zones in 44 Wisconsin counties including Fond du Lac.  Walker's office announced Monday that U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has signed off on the request.
