4-5-18 fdl county sheriff will not run for re-election

Longtime Fond du Lac County Sheriff Mick Fink is not running for re-election.  Fink filed his non-candidacy papers with the county clerk on Wednesday.  The 62 year old Fink was first elected sheriff in 2006.  Before that he served eight years as chief deputy.   Fink will be leaving the office after more than 37 years in law enforcement.  Fink says he feels very good about the office and the people […]

Slow down when driving to work or school.  Roads are slippery.  The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says it has responded to approximately a dozen vehicle run-offs on area roads this morning. A handful of area schools are starting two hours late including North Fond du Lac  and Lomira.

There are two new faces on the Fond du lac city council.  Challenger Ben Giles was the top vote getter with 2,951 votes.  Giles joins his father, Greg Giles, on the council.  Challenger Donna Richards was also elected along with incumbents Karen Merkel  and Kay Miller.  There were three contested races for county board.  Incumbent Gary Will defeated challenger Andrew Zuelke in District 2.  Will was also elected mayor in […]

(AP) — Liberal Rebecca Dallet says her victory in Wisconsin's Supreme Court race over the Republican candidate Michael Screnock shows that voters are tired of special interests and want to have a "fair and independent court." 4-4-18 wisconsin voters reject republican referendum to eliminate state treasurer position

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin voters have decided they want to keep the state treasurer position, even though its duties have been all but eliminated. Voters on Tuesday rejected a constitutional amendment to eliminate the position that has been around since before Wisconsin was a state. The Legislature has shrunk duties of the treasurer in recent years, increasing the pressure to do away with the office altogether.

The Waupun School superintendent says she will be leaving district with mixed emotions.  Dr. Tonya Olson is stepping down at the end of the school year after accepting a job to be principal at Belleville Elementary School.  Olson says its closer to where her husband works as a school superintendent.  During her six year term Olson says she is proud of many accomplishments, including a successful $36 million building referendum.  […]
