4-27-18 convicted child sex offender moves to new location in fdl

A convicted child sex offender has moved to a new location in Fond du lac.  Police say  Elijah Thomas is living in an apartment at 171 South Main Street.  Thomas  spent time in prison for sexually assaulting two teenage girls, ages 13 and 14.  Thomas was also convicted of disorderly conduct after exposing himself in public.

4-27-18 11 injured in northwest wi refinery explosion

A smoky refinery fire that forced many residents of Superior, Wisconsin, to evacuate was finally put out Thursday night.   An explosion rocked the Husky Energy oil refinery in Superior on Thursday morning  sending up billowing clouds of thick, black smoke.  The mayor said most of the city was  evacuated.  At least 11 people were hur, one seriously hurt, with what was described as a blast injury.  No deaths were reported, […]

4-27-18 former uw-oshkosh officials charged with misconduct

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state Department of Justice on Thursday charged two former University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh officials with misconduct in connection with a financial scandal involving five building projects.  DOJ prosecutors charged former Chancellor Richard Wells and former Vice Chancellor Tom Sonnleitner each with five felony counts of misconduct in office. 4-27-18 jane doe remains exhumed

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s investigators say they hope to have forensic test results back  before the end of the year on the remains of a cold case murder victim.  The remains of Jane Doe were exhumed from a Waupun cemetery Thursday morning.  Sheriff’s Lieutenant of Detectives Cameron McGee says investigators hope to learn where Jane Doe lived through an isotope analysis of her bones.  "We were able to successfully […]

4-27-18 sheboygan police say death of one year old was accidental

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — Sheboygan police say the death of 1-year-old child at a babysitter's home was accidental.  Lt. Doug Teunissen says the boy crawled out of a crib Tuesday and became entangled in some window blind cords. Police say they are not recommending any charges.  The child, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at St. Nicholas Hospital.

4-26-18 wisconsin veterans home gets funding for nursing facility

KING, Wis. (AP) — A veterans home in central Wisconsin is getting $55 million in federal funding for a new nursing facility and several maintenance projects.   Congress' latest federal spending bill gives the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King $52 million for a new nursing facility and $3 million for maintenance projects.  Gov. 4-26-18 illinois man makes initial court appearance regarding high speed chase

An Illinois man involved in a high speed chase in Fond du lac County this month has made his initial court appearance.  Mark Terry faces multiple counts including eluding law enforcement, recklessly endangering safety  and felon in possession of a firearm.  Bail was set at $50,000 cash.   A preliminary hearing is scheduled for  May 4.  Terry and a passenger in the vehicle, from Milwaukee,  were arrested following  the chase that […]
