1-3-19 fdl fire chief says thoughts and prayers are with family of fallen lake mills firefighter

todayJanuary 3, 2019

The Fond du Lac Fire chief says his thoughts and prayers are with the family and department of a firefighter who was killed while coming to the aid of a driver during a New Year’s eve snowstorm.  Lake Mills Fire Captain Christopher Truman was struck and killed after he stopped to help a motorist who had skidded off the beltline in Monona on New Year’s Eve.  Fond du Lac fire chief Pete O’Leary says it’s a deadly reminder of how dangerous roadways are.  “One of the most dangerous places for police officers, firefighters and tow-truck drivers and highway workers is on the interstate,” O’Leary told WFDL news.  “I’ve said before that I would rather be inside a burning building than out on an interstate because people drive way too fast.”
