Nobody was injured in a collision between a train and tractor in Dodge County. It happened shortly after 10am Friday near County Highway KW and Hogsback Road in the town of Lowell. The Sheriff’s Office says a tractor was southbound on a farm field drive when the tractor operator attempted to stop for the train, but slid due to slippery conditions, striking the front of the train. The only damage was to the front plow and railing of the train engine.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
