Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney has announced that Assistant District Attorney Douglas Edelstein has been appointed Deputy District Attorney for Fond du Lac County. The appointment will take effect Monday January 7. The Deputy position has been vacant since May 5 when then Deputy District Attorney Dennis Krueger died unexpectedly. District Attorney Eric Toney says Edelstein has been with the Fond du Lac County DAs Office since 2014. “I am excited to appoint Doug Edelstein as the next Deputy District Attorney for Fond du Lac County. Doug has been a tremendous asset to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office and our community since he joined the office,” Toney said. “Dennis Krueger and his tremendous skills as a prosecutor can’t be replaced but I know Doug will use his unique skills and take the Deputy position in a new direction for the betterment of the Office and our community.” Edelstein has been assigned to the Drug Court Team, Crash Team, Health Department’s RAP Team, and frequently worked on vehicular homicides and complex drunk driving offenses. Edelstein began his legal career in 2009 and has been a prosecutor since 2010. Edelstein brings prior jury trial experience to the role, having conducted in excess of 50 jury trials during his career as a prosecutor between Fond du Lac and Winnebago County District Attorney’s Offices. Edelstein also teaches Business Law as adjunct faculty for Marian University.
