todayJanuary 14, 2019

The president of St. Mary’s Springs Academy in Fond du lac is  stepping down.  Kelly Norton is resigning effective February 15 to become the senior director of Enterprise Culture and Communication at Grande Cheese.   Vice president of Advancement at Marian University Stacey Akey will serve as Interim President until a new president is hired.  Norton has been president  at SMSA since 2015.   According to a press release during her tenure school enrollment grew to 890 students and she helped oversee a $26.5 million fundraising campaign to pay for a campus  expansion and renovation project.   “The past six years of serving the SMSA community have been some of the best years of my life. I have shared in the passion and love our community has for our great school. While this is an incredible opportunity at Grande to pursue other professional passions and create more balance between my work and personal life, I will always be loyal to SMSA. We are Ledgers for life!” said Norton.    James Mugan, senior vice president of St. Agnes Hospital Medical Group and Medical Affairs and chair of the SMSA Board of Directors praised Norton’s performance as President. “Kelly’s leadership will be missed. She has accomplished much in her presidency and it has been exciting to see SMSA advance in so many areas in so short a period of time. We also recognize and support Kelly in advancing her career. We are enthused she is staying in the area and joining a quality organization that is a strong community partner.”   The search for the next President of Saint Mary’s Springs Academy will be national in scope and will begin immediately.
