The American Red Cross-Wisconsin chapter is issuing an emergency call for blood donors. Red Cross spokesperson Laura McGuire says following the winter holidays there is a serious blood shortage. McGuire says blood products are currently being distributed to hospitals faster than donations are coming in. Several blood donation clinics are scheduled over the next few weeks in Fond du lac and Dodge counties. For more information you may log on to RedCrossBlood.org.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
