A Fond du Lac man has been charged in connection with what police are describing as a drug related shooting. Edgar Barajas made his initial Fond du lac court appearance Wednesday on multiple counts including recklessly endangering safety and reckless use of a firearm. Bail was set at $50,000 cash. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says nobody was injured when multiple gunshots were fired into a home on east Ninth Street January 7. Nobody was inside the home at the time of the shooting. One of the bullets went through the home and entered a neighbor’s house. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 24.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
