1-27-19 grothman introduces bill to avoid future government shutdowns

Wisconsin Republican Congressman Glenn Grothman and Iowa Democratic Congressman David Loebsack have introduced a bipartisan bill to avoid future government shutdowns.  If Congress fails to pass an appropriations bill under the End  Government Shutdowns Act, an automatic continuing resolutionwill be activated that will fund the government at the previous year’s levels, preventing all future shutdowns.  Grothman says having an automatic backup plan will promote a more purposeful budgeting process by instilling stability within the market and smoothing economic downturns from federal action.  If signed into law, this bill will take effect in October.
